Highlights from Our Study of 1 Corinthians
As we concluded our study of 1 Corinthians, we have seen the Apostle Paul’s loving yet firm instruction to a church that was gifted but struggling with division, immorality, pride, and spiritual immaturity. Throughout this letter, Paul continually points believers back to Jesus Christ as the foundation of the church.
Some of the key lessons we learned include:
● Christ must remain the foundation of everything we do (1 Corinthians 3:11).
● Unity is essential. The church is one body, and we are called to put away divisions and work together in love.
● Holiness matters. God calls His people to live lives that honor Him in every area.
● Love is the greatest gift. Without love, even our greatest talents and spiritual gifts have little value (1 Corinthians 13).
● Every believer has a purpose. God has given each member spiritual gifts to strengthen and build up the body of Christ.
● Giving is an act of worship. We learned that our offerings should be planned, cheerful, and used to meet the needs of God’s people (1 Corinthians 16:1–4).
● Faithful service requires perseverance. Paul encouraged believers to remain steadfast, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
● The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith. Because Christ lives, we have hope, victory over sin, and the promise of eternal life (1 Corinthians 15).
As Paul closes the letter in chapter 16, he reminds the church to continue serving, encouraging one another, standing firm in the faith, being courageous, and letting everything be done in love (1 Corinthians 16:13–14).
May the lessons from 1 Corinthians continue to strengthen our faith, deepen our love for one another, and inspire us to live lives that glorify God. Let us be a church that is united, holy, generous, faithful, and firmly grounded in the Lord Jesus Christ.
